The Women of the Western Communities held a Paint & Wine Night on Thursday, Aug. 3 at Oak Bistro & Wine Bar in Royal Palm Beach. All proceeds went toward the YWCA Harmony House and the WWC Scholarship Fund. The Women of the Western Communities will meet Thursday, June 8 at the Wanderers Club in Wellington. The meet-and-mingle happy hour begins at 6 p.m. with the meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will feature Kathy Stackhouse, an award-winning educator who has been a teacher for 39 years, specializing in reading and language arts.
The group will also be awarding scholarships to some of western Palm Beach County’s finest students after listening to their essays. The meeting will conclude with the installation of the incoming board of directors, performed by longtime member and former president Jo Cudnik.
The meeting’s monthly Harmony House donation will be the last of the season and should be items that children can use to keep themselves entertained over the summer. This could include board games, books, school workbooks, coloring books, crayons and toys.

Women of the Western Communities presented its “Diamonds are Forever” Spring Brunch & Fashion Show on Sunday, May 7 at the Wanderers Club in Wellington. KOOL 105.5 morning show hosts Mo Foster and Sally Sevareid served as masters of ceremony, while fashions were provided by Dressbarn and Bacio Bacio Bridal Salon. Hair and makeup was provided by Visions Hair Studio and Michaelangelo Salon. Money raised will be used to support the Mary Rubloff YWCA Harmony House and scholarships for western communities students. The Women of the Western Communities will hold its Spring Brunch, Fashion Show & Auction, “Diamonds are Forever,” featuring the fashions of Dress Barn and Bacio Bacio Bridal Salon with special guest emcees Mo and Sally from KOOL 105.5 on Sunday, May 7 at 11 a.m. at the Wanderers Club (1900 Aero Club Drive, Wellington). Tickets are $25 for members and $50 for nonmembers. Reservations are required by Monday, May 1. The Women of the Western Communities held a wine and painting fundraiser on Tuesday, April 11 at Oak Bistro & Wine Bar. K.B. Social Artworking hosted 30 people to paint flowers to benefit the Women of the Western Communities Scholarship Fund and Harmony House. The evening also included a raffle.

The April meeting of the Women of the Western Communities will be held Thursday, April 6 at the Wanderers Club in Wellington.
The meet-and-greet begins at 6 p.m. for those who can attend. Be sure to arrive no later than 6:30 p.m. to check in and be seated.
The special guest speaker for the evening will be club favorite Leslie Gray Streeter, the pop culture guru from the Palm Beach Post. Streeter has had some major changes in her life since she last attended a Women of the Western Communities meeting, and it will be interesting to catch up with her.
The monthly donation for Harmony House will be small Mother’s Day gifts that the children can give to their mothers. Some ideas for the donation are: costume jewelry, lotions, colognes, books, purses, calendars, coffee mugs, cosmetics, key chains, fridge magnets, pajamas, slippers and wallets.
Although these donations are not mandatory, club contributions have a big impact on the residents of Harmony House.

The next fundraiser will be painting night held Tuesday, April 11 at 7 p.m. at Oak Bistro & Wine Bar (11051 Southern Blvd., Royal Palm Beach). The cost to attend and paint is $35 per person and will include art supplies. Attendees may arrive earlier to eat dinner or have a glass of wine, which will be available during the event. There is a maximum capacity for attendance of 35 people, so RSVP as soon as possible to Mair Armand at mair@wwc-fl.com or (561) 635-0011.

The Women of the Western Communities held a St. Patrick’s Day polo fundraiser event at Polo West on Friday, March 17 featuring arena polo, a Chinese auction, a 50/50 raffle and more. Proceeds benefited the YWCA Harmony House, an emergency shelter for abused women and their children, and the Women of the Western Communities Scholarship Fund.

The Women of the Western Communities held its monthly meeting Thursday, March 2 at the Wanderers Club in Wellington. The guest speaker was Marla Galindez, victim advocate and a member of the Domestic Violence Unit of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. She spoke about her experiences and advocacy on behalf of victims of domestic violence.

The March meeting of the Women of the Western Communities will be held on Thursday, March 2 at the Wanderers Club in Wellington. The happy hour/meet and greet will begin at 6 p.m. Be sure to get to the meeting no later than 6:30 p.m. to check in and be seated.
The guest speaker for this meeting will be Marla Galindez, victim advocate and a member of the Domestic Violence Unit of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. She will speak about her experiences and advocacy on behalf of the victims of domestic violence. She has asked that all attendees wear purple in support. A photo will be taken.
The monthly donation for Harmony House will be cleaning supplies. Some items that would be appreciated would be: cleaning solutions, disinfecting wipes, kitchen and bathroom cleaners, glass cleaner, cleaning cloths, floor products, dish soaps, laundry soaps, Magic Erasers and cleaning sponges.
